Enhanced Fluorescence in a Lens-Less Fiber-Optic Sensor for C-Reactive Protein Detection

In today’s medicine, the celerity of bio-assays analysis is crucial for timely selection appropriate therapy and hence its effectiveness, especially in case diseases characterized by late onset symptoms. this paper, a lens-less fiber optics-based fluorescence sensor designed measurement labeled presented potential early diagnosis sepsis via C-reactive protein (CRP) detection demonstrated. The performance results from combination two key elements: planar antenna that redirects marker emission an automated fiber-based optical system multi-spot analysis. First, working principle device demonstrated with well-established antibody–antigen format (immunoglobulin IgG/anti-IgG assay), reporting more than one order magnitude enhanced limit (LOD) quantification (LOQ) respect to standard glass substrate. prototype then tested against sample mimicking realistic case, prepared commercially available human serum, showing LOD LOQ clinical range interest (0.0015 μg/mL 0.005 μg/mL, respectively) investigation biomarker CRP. These validate developed as simple easy-to-operate device, compatible standardized micro-well arrays, potentially suitable POC applications.
